After Castellane, the Alpine side of Provence still feels close. The route follows quieter roads through the backcountry, past pale rock, pine-covered slopes and small places such as Senez and Barrême. After the tougher climbing of the previous day, this stage feels more flowing, but never flat: wide valleys, open plateaus and dry riverbeds shape the rhythm of the ride. Towards Sisteron, the landscape opens up and feels warmer again. The day ends between the Durance, steep rock and the town’s citadel.
