Del Rio is the last larger supply point before a long day into the Hill Country. The route leaves town on US 90 east and first crosses flatter land toward Brackettville. Until then, the stage stays straightforward: road, railway, ranchland and occasional access roads. In Brackettville, the US 90 pattern ends. The route turns onto RM 334 and becomes much more rural. The section toward Laguna runs through sparsely settled ranch country, crossing dry creek beds and the West Nueces River area. At SH 55, the stage turns north. The final kilometres climb gently toward Camp Wood. The finish sits on the Nueces River, small but useful, with basic services and direct access to RM 337, one of the well-known roads through the Texas Hill Country.
