Passport control marks the start of the day before the route leaves the British territory behind. Back on Spanish tarmac, the track swings northeast onto the coastal roads of the Costa del Sol. The opening kilometres run flat, cruising past the manicured golf estates and the marina of Sotogrande.
Further up the coast, the terrain becomes more undulating. The road snakes along the hillside ridges, with the Mediterranean glittering on the right. A stop in Estepona's old town is highly recommended: its narrow alleys are lined with hundreds of colourful flowerpots, offering a great spot for an espresso.
The afternoon brings a steady run along the shoreline. The stage finishes in San Pedro Alcántara, located right on the doorstep of Marbella.
