The final Albanian day starts inland and ends by the sea. From Gramsh, I roll out of the mountains as the landscape becomes wider, drier and flatter. After the hard days before, every metre of lost elevation feels like a gift. The road follows valleys, fields and small towns before traffic builds and the Adriatic begins to feel close. Then, finally, Durrës: harbour air, ferries, salt, sea. Not a romantic ending, but a real transition. The Balkans are behind me.
