Granada does not give you an easy roll-out. Day 4 is a proper Sierra Nevada stage: 63.8 kilometres with about 1,610 metres of climbing. The route leaves the city to the east and heads towards Quéntar, following the valley of the Río Aguas Blancas. The road narrows, the slopes turn drier, and the villages become smaller. From there, the long climb to Collado del Alguacil begins. At almost 1,900 metres, it is the highest point of the tour so far, with a much barer, more alpine feel than the previous stages. The section towards Tocón adds gravel and wide views over the northern side of the Sierra Nevada. After the high ground, the route drops in several steps towards La Peza. Hard climbing, big altitude, no wasted kilometres.
