Broad valleys of old vines quickly transition to demanding mountain trails as the route departs south from Monòver. The track heads into the rugged limestone country of the Maigmó massif, tackling a steady gravel climb up to the Puerto Viejo del Catí. Reaching the pass ridge reveals high pine forests and a stone watchtower with expansive views over the arid inland ranges. From the top, a long, technical descent over sandstone paths cuts down through the barren foothills toward the Mediterranean coast. The route skirts the vibrant, clay-lined water basins of the Lagunas de Rabasa on the outskirts of the city. A final urban run opens up to clear views overlooking the Port of Alicante and Santa Bárbara Castle, completing the journey directly on the seaside promenade.
