A steadily climbing profile leads the pack deep into the historic heartland of Galicia today. Leaving Pontevedra behind, the track rolls through dense chestnut groves and quiet vineyards producing the regional Albariño white wine. The first landmark arrives in the thermal spa town of Caldas de Reis, famous for its natural hot springs and ancient Roman bridge. Further north, the route crosses the wide Ulla River to enter Padrón, the culinary home of the world-renowned small green peppers. From here, punchy ramps and a final series of demanding hills test the legs one last time. The reward appears as the stone towers of the Santiago de Compostela cathedral rise above the horizon, bringing the stage to a grand finish on the bustling Plaza del Obradoiro.
