The final stage starts below the monastery of El Escorial and leaves the Sierra with a long net descent. Via Galapagar and Torrelodones, the route crosses granite country, dry hills and the area around the Valmayor reservoir. After that, Madrid moves closer in clear steps: Las Rozas, Majadahonda, Pozuelo, more traffic, wider roads and a denser rhythm. The last kilometres enter from the western edge, through Casa de Campo and into the centre. After two weeks on the road, the route finishes in the middle of Madrid.
