Day 1 rolls out gently along the Ría do Burgo, then the city noise fades and green Galicia takes over: granite villages, hórreos, eucalyptus woods and open pastures slip past the wheels. After an early warm-up climb, the main ascent arrives: about 7.5 km of steady climbing, nearly 360 m up, never savage but long enough to ask for rhythm. From there, the road undulates over quiet high ground, with a few short ramps before Sigüeiro and a smooth final approach before Santiago’s old roofs and towers come into view.
