Today’s distance is short. From Brenham, it heads northeast through Washington County: small roads, farm entrances, pasture, tree lines and short rollers instead of long climbs. The elevation gain comes quietly, mostly through crests and dips between fields. On the second half, the stage moves closer to the Brazos River area. Washington-on-the-Brazos sits near the route and is the key historical reference on this section: the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed here in 1836. After that, the ride continues toward Navasota. Close to town, buildings become more frequent, roads widen, and the rural setting ends step by step. Navasota is a compact, practical stage finish with services and the onward route to the east.
