A shorter but intensely breezy stage leads to the southernmost point of continental Europe. Leaving Barbate, the route tracks flat into the old fishing village of Zahara de los Atunes. Beyond the town, the track loops briefly inland through the low hills of the natural park.
The open coast quickly returns as the route approaches the massive sand dune of Valdevaqueros, where countless kitesurfs fill the sky. The final stretch runs along the sweeping sands of Los Lances beach, where the notorious Levante or Poniente winds provide a solid headwind challenge.
The day wraps up inside the fortified walls of Tarifa. Right where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, the bikes roll to a stop in this historic surf hub.
