Day 3 starts with theatre: the red rocks of Belogradchik linger behind you, then the land opens into the wide Danubian Plain. The ride becomes longer, quieter and more horizontal. Villages, fields and straight roads set the rhythm until the Danube first makes itself felt around Lom. From there, the day keeps moving east, with the river never far from the imagination. Kozloduy brings a finish with real history: open banks, big sky and the Radetzky resting by the water like a quiet national symbol.
