Day one leaves Berlin without ceremony: out of the dense streets around Neukölln and Kreuzberg, past the wide open space of Tempelhofer Feld and on towards the Teltow Canal. Beyond Teltow, the city noise drops away. Brandenburg takes over with flat lanes, pine forest, fields and long, straight roads. Beelitz adds small-town cobbles and asparagus country, Treuenbrietzen the first hint of the Fläming. After Kropstädt, the route rolls into Lutherstadt Wittenberg, ending near the Castle Church after roughly 96 kilometres.
