After the previous day’s climb through the Thuringian Forest, this stage rides faster and lower. From Coburg, the route follows the Itz valley towards Rattelsdorf and Breitengüßbach, then passes close to Bamberg: Regnitz, canal, old mill country and Franconian villages. South of there, it stays in the Regnitz corridor, with Forchheim, Baiersdorf and Erlangen as useful markers on the way. The final kilometres become urban before Nürnberg arrives with the Pegnitz, the old town and the Kaiserburg after roughly 108 kilometres.
