From Dubrovnik, the route first follows the coastal road towards Župa Dubrovačka and Cavtat. The Adriatic appears again and again on the left, while the hills rise quickly on the right, so the climbing starts early. After Cavtat, the road becomes more rural. Konavle brings stone walls, cypress trees, small villages and the last Croatian kilometres before the border at Debeli Brijeg. In Montenegro, the route follows the Bay of Kotor through Herceg Novi to Kamenari. The ferry to Lepetane cuts across the bay and avoids the long ride around its inner part. From there, the stage continues through Tivat and the Grbalj plain towards Budva. The final kilometres bring coastal traffic, hotels and Riviera towns. The day ends at Budva’s old town by the sea.
