Leaving Reinach behind, the route heads upstream through the Laufen valley to enter the Swiss Jura. The terrain shifts noticeably past Delémont as the road climbs onto the rolling plateau of the Franches-Montagnes. Characterized by open pastures, the path passes the watchmaking hub of La Chaux-de-Fonds before tackling the main climb of the day. The ascent to Vue des Alpes marks the stage's highest point at 1,279 meters. A fast descent follows through the Val-de-Ruz, opening up expansive views just before the route finishes along the shores of Lake Neuchâtel.
