The route heads north around the edge of Hitachi Seaside Park, crossing the coastal plain through residential streets, harbour districts and patches of woodland. Beyond Tōkai, it turns inland along the Kuji River, with rice fields and small settlements replacing the industrial outskirts. Further north, wooded slopes draw closer to the road. At Kegano, a turn-off leads towards the Ryūjin Suspension Bridge, stretched high above a reservoir between the hills. The main route continues through the rolling interior, climbing between villages before descending towards the Kuji valley again. The final stretch crosses into Fukushima Prefecture and reaches Yamatsuri. Around 79 kilometres take the ride from the developed coast into a landscape of river bends and forested hills.
