from Hitachinaka
to Nagaoka
E-Bike: 4h 18 / day
Bike: 5h 42 / day

Five days of cycling through Japan link Hitachinaka with the mountains of Fukushima, Niigata and Nagaoka. Across roughly 400 kilometres between the Pacific coast and the Sea of Japan, water shapes the journey. The Kuji River runs through rice fields and villages, while Lake Hatori fills a valley enclosed by woodland. At Lake Inawashiro, the view opens towards the volcanic outline of Mount Bandai. Further west, the Agano winds through narrow valleys before the mountains give way to the fields of the Echigo Plain. Niigata’s Bandai Bridge spans the broad Shinano River. Sandy beaches and a winding mountain road overlooking the sea follow, before the final stretch inland to Nagaoka.A Rogonneur account unlocks all five stage descriptions and detailed planning guidance, from daily distances to useful equipment.
Start with Day 1 and move through the bike tour stage by stage.
