The final stage rolls smoothly down from the Iglesiente mountains into the southern Sardinian plains. The flat route bypasses Siliqua, where the striking medieval ruins of Acquafredda Castle sit high atop a volcanic crag. Wide agricultural fields define the terrain of the Campidano lowland, allowing for a fast and consistent pace over these remaining 65km.
Just before reaching the capital, the track skirts the edge of the expansive Stagno di Cagliari. This vast saltwater lagoon is home to resident colonies of pink flamingos wading through the shallows.
The entry into Cagliari finishes along the historic Marina quarter. Narrow alleyways lead upward to the fortified Castello district and the monumental Bastion of Saint Remy, marking the final endpoint of this cross-island journey.
