The day starts where La Chaux-de-Fonds feels most like the Jura: high, open and slightly severe. The road climbs to La Vue des Alpes, with Lake Neuchâtel and the Alps laid out below. Then the route drops through Val-de-Ruz to Boudry and finds the lakeshore. Bevaix, Concise, Grandson and Yverdon bring fast, exposed kilometres beside the water, limestone slopes behind. Further west the mood changes: fields, villages, vineyards. La Côte carries the ride down to Nyon and the first proper taste of Lake Geneva.
