After Silsbee, the route stays in the flat woodland of Southeast Texas. It heads north toward Buna and Kirbyville, through pine forest, wet roadside ditches, loose settlement and small supply points. Elevation is not the issue here; the stage is long, with 115 kilometres to cover. After Kirbyville, the route becomes more rural: fewer towns, more forest sections, ranch entrances and long connector roads toward Bon Wier. Near Bon Wier, it reaches the Sabine River, which forms the Texas–Louisiana line. After the crossing, the profile remains easy, but the road setting becomes quieter and more local. Merryville is the first clear Louisiana town on the route. From there, the stage continues to DeRidder, with downtown streets, the courthouse area and solid services at the finish.
