After the longer opening stage, Day 2 is short and calm. From the quays in Mâcon, the route heads north along the Saône, with flat paths, riverside meadows and the Mâconnais hills to the west. The river stays close throughout: small villages, bridges, poplar rows and repeated views across the wide bends of the Saône. Around Fleurville and Uchizy, the ride turns more rural before Tournus comes into reach. The stage ends by the riverfront, old streets and the Abbey of Saint-Philibert.
