Today the Panhandle turns into a long eastbound day. From Madison, the route follows US 90 through open sections of pine, fields, driveways and small settlements. Between Madison and Live Oak, it crosses the Suwannee River, the main natural break in the first half of the stage. After that, the line stays direct: Live Oak, Wellborn and Lake City are the clear supply points. East of Lake City, the ride becomes more wooded. US 90 runs along the edge of Osceola National Forest, then through the Olustee area. The battlefield sits close to the road and gives this section its main historical marker. Sanderson and Glen St. Mary follow before Macclenny, a practical finish before the Jacksonville approach.
