Melle starts the day on the edge of Westphalia’s low hills. The route first follows small roads through the Osnabrücker Land, with short climbs, patches of woodland and views across open fields. Around Lienen and Tecklenburg, timber-framed houses enter the picture; later the road opens towards Ibbenbüren and the Münsterland. Hörstel, Wettringen and Ochtrup bring flatter ground, brick farmhouses and long cycle paths. After Gronau, the border comes quickly. In Twente, the signs turn Dutch, the bike lanes widen, and Enschede arrives after roughly 114 kilometres.
