Day 2 leaves the Atlantic mood of Biscarrosse behind and heads deep into the Landes. From the lake country around Biscarrosse and Parentis-en-Born, the route slips into a quiet pattern of pine forest, sandy soil and long, straight woodland roads. It is less dramatic than meditative: open space, little noise, the scent of resin and small villages resting in the shade. Near Sabres, the Écomusée de Marquèze sits close to the route, before the land gently drops towards Mont-de-Marsan. There, the Midou and Douze rivers meet – a calm finish after almost 97 km of forest riding.
