The first stage follows Cyprus’ south coast from Larnaca to Limassol. After the last city streets, Larnaca Salt Lake and Hala Sultan Tekke sit close to the route, before the ride moves through Kiti, Pervolia and Mazotos into quieter coastal country. Fields, low hills and sea views lead on towards Zygi, with fishing harbours, greenhouses and open bays along the way, while the road stays mostly flat and exposed. Later, the white rocks of Governor’s Beach and the ruins of Amathus mark the approach to the Limassol area.
