The landscape becomes gently rolling beyond Pisz, with fields, small lakes and woodland accompanying the road through Drygały and Bajtkowo. Ełk provides the day’s longest urban interlude. Its elongated lake reaches close to the centre, with houses, promenades and landing stages along the shore. After the town, the route returns to open countryside on the way to Wieliczki. A wooden church dating from the 17th century stands here, its dark walls and tall tower rising above the neighbouring buildings. Further low rises lead towards Suwałki, opening views across farmland between the villages. At roughly 107 kilometres, the stage brings more changes of gradient than the first two days. Straight streets and closely spaced façades mark the arrival in Suwałki.
