Right out of the Saint-Hippolyte basin, the road pitches up without delay. A sharp initial climb brings the route onto the French Jura plateau, topping out at just under 800 meters for the highest point of the day. Once on top, the terrain flattens and transitions into a long, gradual descent leading out of the foothills. What follows is a long, straightforward stretch through the rolling Sundgau region in southern Alsace. Navigation remains simple while ticking off kilometers on mostly quiet country roads. The route crosses the Rhine at Chalampé, marking the return to Germany. The final leg back into Freiburg is completely flat across the Rhine plain, trading the elevation changes of the past days for a steady roll on paved bike paths.
