Tallahassee is left to the east, first on city streets, then along the US 90 corridor. Beyond the outer edge of the capital, the route becomes more rural: pine forest, pasture, driveways, small creeks and short rolling sections. Until Monticello, the road stays mostly direct, but not flat. Monticello is the main stop of the stage, with its historic district, courthouse roundabout and services close to the route. After that, US 90 continues through Jefferson County and Madison County. Between Monticello, Greenville and Madison, the day becomes quieter: forest sections, open fields, scattered houses and long stretches with few turns. Close to Madison, buildings become more frequent again. The finish is compact, with downtown streets, shops and motels for the next section.
