On the final day, the hardest work comes early. From Thann, the route first heads toward Cernay, then climbs into the southern Vosges. The section around Hartmannswillerkopf and Col Amic carries most of the day’s elevation: forest, narrow roads, steeper ramps and occasional open views back across Alsace. After that, the route loses height quickly and reaches the edge of the Rhine plain via Soultz. From here, the character changes completely. Mountain roads give way to longer, flatter kilometres through fields, villages and exposed sections where wind can matter. Around the Fessenheim area, the route crosses back into Germany. It then continues through the Markgräflerland toward Bad Krozingen and Schallstadt before the final kilometres lead into southern Freiburg.
