From Munster, the stage points straight toward the Vosges. The route first follows the valley through Metzeral and Sondernach before the long climb to the ridge road begins. The section toward Platzerwasel and Markstein carries most of the day’s effort: forest, open pastures, steeper ramps and repeated views across the valleys. At the top, the road does not stay flat for long, shifting between short descents, counter-climbs and exposed stretches. The route then drops into the Kruth and Wildenstein area, with the lake, forest and a much narrower valley feel. In the second half, the ride continues through the Thur valley. Via Oderen, Wesserling and Saint-Amarin, the profile becomes lower and smoother before the final kilometres lead into Thann.
