The route flows through perfectly preserved post towns like Narai-juku and Kiso-Fukushima, where traditional wooden houses flank dense forests. Punchy climbs toward Tsumago and Magome-juku test the legs, but the rugged scenery rewards every single effort.
Past Nakatsugawa, the terrain flattens out. Following the Kiso River, the wheels spin efficiently through wide valleys via Ena and Minokamo. Skirting Gifu, this historic day concludes in the traditional hub of Ogaki.
