From flat lowlands across the legendary Sekigahara pass straight to the shores of Japan’s largest lake. Leaving Ogaki, the second stage climbs through the historic mountain pass of Sekigahara before descending toward Maibara. At Hikone, the dramatic expanse of Lake Biwa opens up, overlooked by its ancient castle. The route flows flat and fast along the eastern shoreline past Omihachiman.
Turning away from the water, the track heads into the densely forested peaks along the historic Saba Kaido trade route. Winding through the tranquil Ohara Valley, a sweeping final descent brings riders directly into the cultural heart of Kyoto. A phenomenal mix of coastal roads, mountain passes, and deep history.
