Two passes stand between Valdeblore and Sospel, with the Vésubie cut deep between them. The route first climbs to La Colmiane and Col Saint-Martin, then drops towards Saint-Martin-Vésubie, Lantosque and La Bollène-Vésubie. That is where the second climb begins: Col de Turini, a rally road of tight bends, forest, rock and almost no straight lines. The top stays rugged and enclosed before the descent runs through Moulinet into the Bévéra valley. Sospel feels noticeably southern afterwards: arcades, bridge, warm façades, mountains on every side.
