Description

This 10-day bike tour runs from Erlangen through the Upper Palatinate to the Danube and on to Budapest. The route links Franconian cities, the Upper Palatinate Jura, the Danube valleys of Bavaria and Austria, the Wachau, Vienna, Bratislava, Žitný ostrov and the Hungarian Danube Bend. Along the way, Nürnberg, Regensburg, Walhalla, Passau, the Schlögener Schlinge, Linz, Melk, Dürnstein, Vienna, Bratislava, Komárno and Esztergom sit directly on or close to the route. Much of the journey follows the feel of the Danube Cycle Path: flat river miles, old trading towns, abbeys, castles, vineyards, wetlands and border cities. For several days, it follows one of Europe’s major rivers, while staying more varied than a simple river route might suggest. The challenge i...
