Albenga’s medieval towers appear early, rising above the streets just inland from the sea. The route brushes the old town before returning to the coast through Loano and Pietra Ligure. Beyond Finale Ligure, rocky headlands interrupt the beaches. Varigotti’s ochre houses stand beside the sand, and the road rounds Capo Noli with views into the next bay. In Savona, the broad walls of the Priamar fortress and the Torre Leon Pancaldo mark the approach to the harbour. Varazze, Cogoleto and Arenzano follow along the shore, with short rises between the towns. Genoa arrives gradually through docks, waterfront industry and closely built suburbs. The old port and the narrow lanes behind it await at the end of roughly 96 kilometres along the Riviera di Ponente.
