Day 2 is the long traverse of Izu’s west side. From Shimoda, the route first follows the southern coast, passing small harbours, coves and last views back toward the Pacific. Near Irozaki the road becomes more broken, then turns north toward Matsuzaki, an old coastal town known for its namako walls. Dogashima comes soon after, with rock stacks, islets and a steep shoreline close to the road. Through Koganezaki, Toi and Heda, the ride keeps switching between sea level and short, hard climbs. There are few long flat sections; the coast keeps asking for another effort. On the northern stretch, Suruga Bay sits to the right; in clear weather Fuji can appear across the water. The stage finishes in Numazu after roughly 140 km and about 2,000 m of climbing.
