At around 70 kilometres, today’s stage leaves more time for its destination. Open fields across the Zemgale plain lead out of Bauska towards Iecava, where the river and mature trees of the manor park add greenery between the town streets. Woodland and settlements follow on the way north. Around Ķekava, the approach to Riga becomes increasingly apparent in the houses, junctions and traffic. The Akmens Bridge opens a view across the broad Daugava to the church spires of the old town. On the far bank, the elaborate façade of the House of the Blackheads and the cathedral stand close to the route. Narrow streets, small squares and brick buildings fill the final part of the ride, with enough of the day left to park the bike and explore central Riga on foot.
