Day five is the first proper long transfer: not hard because of climbing, but because it keeps going. From Biled, the route cuts through western Banat, passing Cărpiniș and heading towards the Bega Canal. Around Iohanisfeld and Foeni the land opens up completely: fields, drainage ditches, straight village roads, little shade. The Bega Canal is not a postcard sight here; it is the reason the plain feels so engineered, an old waterway linking Timișoara with the Serbian side of Banat. At Foeni, the route crosses into Serbia at Jaša Tomić, then continues through Sečanj and Uzdin. Kovačica makes a strong finish: a small town known for the naïve painting tradition of Serbia’s Slovak community.
