This is a long day with about 117 km and almost no climbing. Kovačica drops away quickly, then the road runs through Crepaja into Pančevo. For a while the ride becomes urban: wider streets, traffic, the Tamiš, the Danube. Pančevo sits at the meeting point of the Tamiš and Danube; after town, the route stays in Banat through Starčevo and Omoljica before turning towards Kovin. Starčevo is more than a village name: Serbia’s national tourism office describes it as the country’s oldest Neolithic archaeological site. The riding to Kovin is flat, open and practical. The Danube crossing on the Kovin Bridge is the clear break in the day. Smederevo stays just off the line; the finish rolls through fields and villages to Lučica, outside Požarevac.
