From Biloxi, the route crosses the Biloxi Bay Bridge into Ocean Springs. The Mississippi Sound stays close at the start, then the stage follows US 90 through the coastal area east of Biloxi. Ocean Springs is the first clear change of place, with the Davis Bayou area of Gulf Islands National Seashore close to the route soon after. Toward Gautier and Pascagoula, the day becomes less beach-facing: wide roads, waterways, bridges, commercial strips and residential areas take over. After the East Pascagoula River crossing, the route continues via Moss Point and Grand Bay into Alabama. The final kilometres through Theodore toward Mobile become more urban. Mobile is a larger city again, with port infrastructure, downtown streets and reliable services after a long, flat coastal stage.
