Day 1 rides from Sanur to Ubud and turns a short stage into a clear change of scenery. It starts low on Bali’s east coast, with sea air, beach-road traffic and the last flat kilometres before the island folds inland. The route then climbs gradually through the southern part of Gianyar, not with one big ascent but with constant gain through villages, workshops and busy local roads. Around Batubulan, Celuk, Sukawati, Batuan and Mas, the ride passes Bali’s craft belt: stone carving, silver work, temples and woodcarving. The final kilometres rise more noticeably, with rice fields and green river cuts closer to the road. Ubud arrives as a clean transition: away from the coast, into Bali’s cultural interior.
