Lagos does not ease you in for long. Within the first kilometres the route turns straight to the cliffs of Ponta da Piedade, passing Praia Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo. Then it bends west through Praia da Luz and on to Burgau. Between Burgau, Boca do Rio and Salema the day gets rougher: short ramps, dry slopes, small coves and white houses above the Atlantic. After Figueira comes the longer climb onto the Vila do Bispo plateau. From there, the road runs open, exposed and without much shelter into Sagres.
