Day one leaves central Freiburg without wasting time. The city falls away quickly and the route climbs into the quieter edge of the Black Forest, reaching almost 620 metres near Katzental. The reward is immediate: open views back towards Freiburg, across the Breisgau, and into the first wine country of the tour. After the climb, the ride settles into rolling Markgräflerland terrain. Vineyards, small villages and wide field roads shape the middle section, with clear views of Pfaffenweiler and, later, Staufen Castle from the Rothof. Further west, the profile flattens near Bremgarten airfield, where the Black Forest sits behind you like a dark wall. The final kilometres cross the Rhine plain to Munzingen, ending quietly at Schloss Reinach.
