The Col d’Ornon begins the day in a green side valley of the Oisans. The road follows the Lignarre uphill between wooded slopes and small settlements. Beyond the pass, a long descent runs through Le Périer to Entraigues. The Valbonnais opens around fields and villages beneath the western reaches of the Écrins. From Corps, the route continues into the Champsaur, where hedgerows divide meadows and farmland. Mountains still frame the road, but the foreground is shaped by agriculture: enclosed fields, scattered farms and villages along the valley. The Col de Manse adds another climb before the route turns south towards La Bâtie-Neuve. The final kilometres lead through Chorges to the stage finish nearby, rounding off around 114 kilometres of wooded valleys and open uplands.
