The sixth stage is the tour’s high-mountain day. From La Calahorra, the route passes below the castle and climbs towards Puerto de la Ragua before pushing well above 2,000 metres. Over 63.8 kilometres it gains about 1,350 metres, with the highest point at roughly 2,332 metres. Up there, the Sierra Nevada feels exposed and spare: little shelter, long views, and open ground between the Marquesado del Zenete and the Alpujarra. The road stays high for longer than expected, then begins its descent through pine forest and past the Collado del Espino recreation area. The final kilometres into Ohanes lose height quickly. At the finish, the village sits on terraced slopes with vines, white houses and narrow hillside streets.
