Day five changes country early. From Dolga vas, the route heads via Lendava towards the Mura and into Croatia, then crosses Međimurje to Čakovec. The first part stays flat: fields, villages, river edges and long roads. Around Varaždin, the stage becomes more urban, with baroque façades, the Drava and wider approaches. From there, the road turns south through Novi Marof and Sveti Ivan Zelina, adding gentle rollers and open countryside. Beyond Sesvete, Zagreb starts to take over. The final kilometres lead into the capital, with the old town, the Sava nearby and a proper city finish.
