Zagreb falls away through its western districts before the route heads towards Samobor. The first kilometres are still suburban and flat; then the road picks up hills, smaller lanes and the border crossing near Bregana/Obrežje. In Slovenia, the stage passes the Brežice area and the Sava before moving into Krka country. Kostanjevica na Krki and Novo Mesto add river sections, old-town streets and the low hills of Dolenjska. After that, the road rolls again through Mirna Peč before reaching Trebnje after roughly 99 kilometres.
