The day starts in the Massif des Maures, with cork oaks, chestnut trees and narrow roads crossing wooded hills. After Gonfaron, the terrain opens up, and the route heads back towards the coast via Vidauban, Le Muy and Puget-sur-Argens. Around Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël, the Mediterranean returns. The Riviera then comes in quick succession: Mandelieu, Cannes, Antibes and Cagnes-sur-Mer. The final kilometres into Nice mix promenades, city traffic and wide views over the Baie des Anges.
