Oropa’s wooded slopes give way to Biella on a long descent towards the plain. With each bend, the view opens further, until fields and straight roads replace the enclosing mountains. The route crosses rural Piedmont through Salussola and Cavaglià, passing waterways, scattered farmsteads and low village houses. Beyond the Dora Baltea crossing, it turns west towards Chivasso. Brandizzo and Settimo Torinese gradually merge into the wider urban landscape of Turin. The approach reveals the working suburbs before the older city comes into focus. Near the finish, the red brick towers of the Roman Porta Palatina stand beside the route. After almost 98 kilometres with relatively little climbing, the day ends in the historic centre, among closely packed streets and squares.
